December 2020 Meeting Minutes

Present: John Slaby, Chairman, Roy Boushon and Mike Galloway, Town Supervisors, and Jamie Soberg, Clerk/Treasurer.

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Slaby at 7 pm.

Checks numbered 429, 18234 – 18262 were signed by the board.

Recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Clerk read the minutes from the Board Meeting held in November. Motion by Galloway/Boushon to receive and place on file as read. Carried.

Soberg read the Treasurers report for the month of November. Motion by Boushon/Galloway to receive and place on file as presented. Carried.

Slaby shared concerns about the no parking signs being taken down by someone without permission on Price Lake Road. As a result, Slaby proposed an ordinance to be implemented. He proceeded with a roll call vote to adopt it: Roy-Yes, Mike-Yes, John-Yes. The No Parking Ordinance was adopted December 10, 2020 and will take effect December 15, 2020. The clerk will post in the newspaper.

There were two grants received by the Town of Flambeau for Covid-19 related purchases. One was the R2R Grant of $3,300 and the other was from the WEC Cares Act Grant for $590.00. Under these programs, the town purchased plexiglass dividers for election, hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies, stamps, additional poll worker pay, tables, chairs, label printer, masks, wash station/toilet rental, and a drop box.

Soberg shared quotes on internet option costs from Norvado and Dish Network ranging from $60 to $100 per month depending on service needed. There was discussion about using a hot spot to access services. Slaby to check with Verizon on options available.

Soberg asked the board for reimbursement for a portion of home internet and utilities as clerk/treasurer work is performed from home. A motion was made by Slaby to reimburse the clerk/treasurer $75 per month for home internet, electric, and heating use for town duties. Seconded by Boushon. Carried.

Advanced Disposal Services, Inc. was acquired by Waste Management and certain assets sold to GFL Environmental Inc. effective October 30, 2020. Town of Flambeau is now with GFL.

It was noted that property tax bills have been mailed and a drop box was installed at the town hall to collect payments as well. Also dog licenses are now being issued by the Humane Officer at the Sheriff’s Office.
