August 13, 2020
Present: John Slaby, Chairman, Roy Boushon and Mike Galloway, Town Supervisors, and Jamie Soberg, Clerk/Treasurer.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Slaby at 7 pm.
Checks numbered 423, 1042-1043, 18099 – 18137 were signed by the board.
Recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Clerk read the minutes from the Board Meeting held in July. Motion by Galloway/Boushon to receive and place on file as read. Carried.
Soberg read the Treasurers report for the month of July. Motion by Boushon/Galloway to receive and place on file as presented. Carried.
Slaby reported that Fire AdHoc meeting went well. There was a call for switch on fire and bill has been submitted to Price Electric. The Repeater for communication was hit by lightning and will cost about $9K, but clerk is looking to see if it is insured. The Ambulance has made 330 runs which is above the average 260. Next meeting in September will be to work on budgets so towns can have their numbers.
Slaby shared a letter from Rhonda Kenyon regarding the LeTourneau boat launch. She requested the town to remove the southern post by August 20th to allow better access with the possibility of replacing other posts with flexible ones. John commented that when the board met with the DNR and county commissioner at the launch, there was no discussion of flexible posts and that the boulders were acceptable. Wendy from the DNR also showed the board where road work should not be done around the boat landing area on Price Lake Road. Boushon will get with Joe Baratka to see what flexible options there are for posts.
Larry Weik requested a discussion about Price Lake Road’s classification. He stated the road is not wide enough especially for logs trucks to travel safely so if the town does not move it to Class B road, then he is requesting road weight limit signs to be put up. Weik says the south end of Price Lake Road and down by Lake LeClaire is not legal width. Slaby commented that work could not be done with culverts per the DNR without engineering and approval to widen if needed. Also the Town received the grant money for Price Lake Road partly for the hauling of wood. The board agrees to leave the road as is.
There was a discussion on snowplowing private driveways. Boushon made a motion to plow private driveways and roads this year. Seconded by Slaby. Upon voice vote: Supervisor Boushon – aye; Chairman Slaby – aye; Supervisor Galloway – nay. Motion carried. Slaby noted that all drivers need to assess driveways for those that have contracts.
Public Comment – Dave Dispensa commented that there is a need for good communication. The board shared that there is a town website available (www.flambeauwi.com) and we can look into other ways to get communications across.
Wayne Brecht had a comment about the amount of activity on N LeTourneau Lake Road. The town truck was hauling spoils to residents living there. He said it was causing damage to the road and the township should pay to fix it. There was some discussion and it was noted that the residents that live on that private road are the ones who are responsible for maintaining it.
Motion by Galloway/Boushon to adjourn. Carried.
Meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm.
