August 2022 Meeting Minutes

Present: John Slaby, Chairman, Roy Boushon & Mike Galloway, Town Supervisors, and Jamie Soberg, Clerk/Treasurer.

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Slaby at 7 pm.

Checks numbered 483-485, 1047, 18857– 18886 were signed by the board.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Clerk read the minutes from the Board Meeting held in July. Motion by Galloway/Boushon to receive and place on file as read. Carried. Slaby added that only 1035 yds of gravel were needed on Up River Road which came in less than the estimate of 1500 yds.

Soberg read the Treasurers report for the month of July. Motion by Boushon/Galloway to receive and place on file as presented. Carried.

Sam Scott from Rural Insurance attended the meeting to touch base with the town board and give an update on the garage roof damage claim. Matt Buchanon with Rural Insurance will be coming Friday or next week to assess roof damage with Rob Grigsby and Jeff Heikkinen.

Slaby reported that the Fire AdHoc meeting was mostly about the Town of Harmony looking to join Phillips Fire Department. He also attended the Ambulance meeting and shared that they had 400 calls this year when they normally have that many in a year. Slaby also commented that Phillips continues to help out the Prentice crew for a charge, as they are understaffed.

Galloway inquired about the current stockpile of gravel of 2000 yds in Samuel’s Pit and 1000 yds at the town garage. He commented that Norvado was given contact names as they will need to find their own gravel to repair Popple Hill Road.

Regarding the school driveway, the county will not allow a horseshoe driveway as requested by the school committee. Slaby commented that he notified the committee.

There was a motion by Boushon/Slaby to accept the revised 2007-1 No Parking Ordinance presented by Galloway. Carried. Ordinance to take affect once Soberg has it published in the paper and a copy given to the Price County Sheriff Office.

After much discussion, there was a motion made by Galloway to no longer snowplow driveways for the 2022-2023 season. Seconded by Slaby. Carried. A notice will be posted in the newspaper along with notices mailed to landowners with past contracts.

Public Comment – Rebecca Trigg asked about the plans for a new town hall. She also inquired about the school committee and their roll in the property.

Dean Manecke mentioned that North Fork Road hasn’t been maintained and shoulders brought in as discussed last year. Slaby will talk with Rob Grigsby about getting work done as it was on the road plan. There was also discussion about the town marking trees so Dean can cut them down to get the project going and closer to getting a grant.

Kathy Adam commented that she and Brian Koslowski think a recycle dumpster should be swapped out for a garbage dumpster as garbage has increased and recycling has gone down. Soberg agreed and will contact GFL to make the changes.

Motion by Galloway/Boushon to adjourn. Carried.

Meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm.
